miss sassy: JD Vance’s pet-eating story faces another embarrassing turn; here’s what it is
JD says Miss Sassy is safe. Another embarrassing snag has been hit by J D Vance’s pet-eating hoax. JD Vance’s claim that Haitian immigrants are stealing and eating pets has encountered yet another awkward turn of events.

In response to criticism regarding the hoax, Vance’s campaign this week provided the Wall Street Journal with a police report that described a Springfield, Ohio, resident’s allegation that her cat had mysteriously disappeared in August. According to Vance’s team, the report provided evidence that there was cause for concern regarding the safety of Springfield’s pets. But as it happens, Miss Sassy, the missing cat, was safe all along, just like Sassy, the cat from Homeward Bound.

Her owner, Anna Kilgore, reported to the Journal that her cat’s journey home was a little bit shorter. She spent the entire time hiding in her basement, only to reappear a few days after she reported her missing to the police. Kilgore told the Journal that she used her daughter and a translation app to apologize to her Haitian neighbours. Kilgore was seen holding a Trump 2024 flag and sporting a shirt bearing the same slogan.

Kilgore also made it a point to inform members of a Facebook group for missing pets that Miss Sassy, a Maine Coon, had returned from the basement and was home safe. Two days prior to that comment, she had asked for assistance in locating herself.

The city of Springfield, which has a population of 58,000 and is located approximately 45 miles west of Columbus, has experienced a chaotic start to September due to unfounded rumors that have taken off like wildfire, despite the complete lack of supporting evidence. The hoax gained enormous momentum last week when Trump repeated the rumor that immigrants in Springfield were consuming dogs during his primetime debate with Kamala Harris. A few days after Miss Sassy was reported missing to Springfield, Ohio, police, she turned up safe. Also Read : All hunky-dory for Kamala Harris? Since then, Republican Springfield Mayor Rob Rue has pleaded with Trump not to come to the city for fear that it will overwhelm law enforcement already dealing with a barrage of threats, 33 bomb threats alone—and general mayhem. Rue and other Springfield officials have labelled the rumours as meritless, but it hasn’t really stopped Trump and Vance from using them as a wedge to attack Harris’ immigration history.
Trump’s campaign is focusing on Springfield, Ohio, despite Republican opposition from Ohio’s governor, Mike DeWine. The campaign is addressing issues like rising rent costs, public health concerns, and increased vehicular accidents due to the influx of migrants.
