LEADING THE WAY. WELL, MANY PEOPLE DECIDED TO HIT STORES AND SHOPPING MALLS ON BLACK FRIDAY YESTERDAY. OTHERS DECIDED TO ADD A NEW FAMILY MEMBER TO THEIR FAMILY. CINCINNATI ANIMAL CARE HOSTED A BLACK FRIDAY EVENT WHERE ALL ANIMALS COULD BE ADOPTED FOR JUST $0.99. IT IS ONE OF THEIR BIGGEST EVENTS OF THE YEAR, AND THE SHELTER TELLS US IT EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS. FRIDAY AT CINCINNATI ANIMAL CARE STARTED WITH KENNELS FULL OF DOGS LOOKING FOR HOMES FOR THE HOLIDAYS, WITH OVER 500 DOGS IN CARE. WE NEED ADOPTERS, WE NEED FOSTERS, WE NEED PEOPLE TO COME ON OUT AND SUPPORT. BUT IT ENDED WITH 100 OF THOSE DOGS. NOW FINDING A PERMANENT PLACE TO CALL HOME. THIS IS A RECORD FOR US AS AN ORGANIZATION IN THE FOUR YEARS OF CINCINNATI ANIMAL CARE’S HISTORY, AND WE ARE JUST BEYOND EXCITED TO HAVE THIS MANY ANIMALS FIND THEIR HOMES. CINCINNATI ANIMAL CARE SERVES AS THE HAMILTON COUNTY SHELTER, WHICH MEANS THEY TAKE CARE OF ANY AND ALL DOGS FOUND IN THE AREA. OUR SHELTER IS SO OVER CAPACITY AND TO HAVE THIS MANY ADOPTIONS AND HAVE THE SUPPORT OF OUR COMMUNITY COME OUT AND ADOPT ANIMALS TO GIVE THEM LOVING HOMES MEANS THE WORLD TO ALL OF US. AS THE COLD WEATHER MOVES IN, SHELTER DIRECTOR MEGAN COLVILL SAYS THERE’S NO BETTER TIME TO OPEN UP YOUR HOME TO A FURRY FRIEND. THEY’RE GOING TO BE IN A WARM, COMFORTABLE PLACE. THEY’RE NOT GOING TO BE AT THE SHELTER TONIGHT. THEY’RE GOING TO HAVE A MUCH BETTER, BETTER LIVING SITUATION THAN BEING HERE. DOZENS OF PEOPLE FLOODING INTO THE SHELTER LOOKING AT THE DOZENS OF DOGS THEY HAVE TO OFFER BABY. MANY OF THEM BRINGING A NEW FRIEND HOME AS THANKSGIVING COMES TO AN END. WATCHING OUR CUSTOMERS WALK OUT OF HERE WITH THEIR NEWLY ADOPTED CATS AND DOGS IS. IT’S THE BEST FEELING. COLVILL SAYS IT’S CRUCIAL TO GET DOGS OUT OF THE SHELTER AS THEY CONTINUE TO SEE INTAKE NUMBERS RISING. THE MORE ANIMALS THAT CAN GET INTO HOMES, THE LESS ANIMALS THERE ARE ON SITE WHERE WE’RE ABLE TO CONTINUE TO HELP OTHERS. WHILE THE SHELTER SAW A RECORD NUMBER OF ADOPTIONS, THERE’S STILL MORE WORK TO BE DONE. UNFORTUNATELY, WE’LL HAVE A WHOLE BUNCH MORE DOGS COME TOMORROW. SOME GREAT NEWS THERE, BUT SADLY, THAT SHELTER IS STILL OVER CAPACITY. BUT THERE ARE SOME WAYS THAT YOU CAN HELP OUT. OF COURSE, ADOPTING AND FOSTERING AN ANIMAL, BUT ALSO DONATING YOUR TIME AND IMPORTANT RESOURCES TO THE SHELTER. YOU CAN FIND ALL THAT INFORM
