The Global Wildlife Center features more than 3,000 acres of land just north of Baton Rouge. It is one of the most beautiful places to visit in all of Louisiana.
At the core of the mission of the GWC is helping to restore populations of endangered species from around the world.
The Scimitar Horned Oryx, pictured here, has been classified as extinct in the wild. The thriving herd at GWC is one of the crown jewels of the sanctuary.
The Pere David deer are another group of animals that have been lovingly cared for at the GWC.
At one point, there were only 15 of these deer in the entire world. They are originally from China and are now happy at the GWC.
When you visit the Global Wildlife Center, you can choose to go on a group-guided safari wagon tour.
The 1.5-hour ride takes you through more than 900 acres of Louisiana countryside with a lake and 12 ponds, bringing you up close and personal with a huge variety of exotic animals. Other tour options are available for visitors at the Global Wildlife Center.
Riders on the safari tour may purchase feed to give to
the animals, which is a pretty special experience.
It’s truly amazing all of the animals you’ll see on this magical ride, such as camels, giraffes, bison, elands, and many other exciting creatures!
The camels are extremely sweet and love to get fed!

A number of exotic birds live at the sanctuary, including peacocks, peafowl, ducks, blue parrots, ostriches, owls, and eagles.
We think they are some of the most handsome animals on the property.
The Red Kangaroos are a real favorite.
